TRAVELLING WITH SPORTS EQUIPMENT

How to transport your surfboard or golf bag (or any other sports equipment)?

Transport terms and conditions

You will have no problem finding the answer in in the explanations below.

 

Transport of sports equipment is subject to the following special conditions:

 

·    Contact us at least two days before departure to check in your equipment.
·    All equipment must be stowed in a proper container.
·    Is your equipment overweight? Go to the oversize/overweight baggage page.

GOLF

Your golf equipment (consisting of a bag containing clubs and shoes) is considered to be a standard checked item. So it is included in your fare (except Light fares) if it is the only item you check in.

 

Your equipment must weigh no more than 23 kg.

 

Are you a member of Flying Blue Golf? If so, you may check in one golf bag free of charge as long as it holds only golfing equipment, regardless of the number of bags you have otherwise checked. To receive this benefit, go to the Flying Blue Golf website and fill out the proper form on your "Profile" page. Print out the voucher that you see and present it at the airport.

DIVING EQUIPMENT

Your diving equipment (consisting of no more than a wetsuit, a diving jacket, mask, diving boots, fins, flippers, a knife and a pressure reducer) is considered to be a standard checked item. So it is included in your fare (except Light fares) if it is the only item you check in.

 

Keep in mind: Diving torches are accepted upon our prior consent. Please contact us no later than 48 hours prior to your flight.

 

DIVE BOTTLES
Compressed-air dive bottles are accepted in the hold as long as they are empty and weight no more than 23 kg. They are not included in your fare. At the airport you will have to pay a supplement depending on your itinerary.

Oxygen bottles cannot be transported, either in the cabin or the hold.

FISHING EQUIPMENT

Your fishing equipment (consisting of no more than two rods, a pair of boots, a tackle box and a net) pay be transported in the hold.

 

Fishing equipment is considered to be a standard checked item. So it is included in your fare (except Light fares) if it is the only item you check in.

BICYCLES AND TANDEMS

Your bicycle, folding bike or tandem are accepted in the hold and only upon our prior consent. Please contact us no later than 48 hours prior to your flight.

 

Your bicycle, folding bike or tandem are not included in your fare. You will have to pay a supplement at the airport (€40 in continental France).

The amounts provided are valid for items weighing no more than 23 kg, including their containers. Bicycle containers (175 x 21.5 x 86 cm) are on sale at Air France counters at most airports.

 

To ready your bike to be transported, make sure you:

 

·    Remove or fold up its pedals,
·    Remove the front wheel and affix it to the frame,
·    Affix the handlebar(s) on the sides (parallel to the frame),
·    place your bicycle, folding bike or tandem in a protective container (cardboard or rigid plastic).

SKIING EQUIPMENT

ALPINE SKIING, CROSS CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING

 

Your skiing equipment is considered to be a standard checked item. So it is included in your fare (except Light fares) if it is the only item you check in.

 

Your skiing equipment may include various items, including:

 

·    Alpine or cross-country skiing: 1 pair of skis + 1 pair of sticks + 1 pair de shoes.
·    Snowboard: 1 board + 1 pair of shoes.

 

Make sure you pack up your skis or snowboard in a special cover, which must be no longer than 300 cm. Your Alpine ski or snowboard shoes may be placed in a separate bag. These two items (cover and bag) are considered to be a single item in the hold and are therefore included in your fare.

 

If you wish to carry on a helmet, it will be considered a carry-on item and not an accessory.

 

WATER SKIIING

 

Your water-skiing equipment (only your skis) is considered to be a standard checked item. So it is included in your fare (except Light fares) if it is the only item you check in. Make sure you pack up your skis in a special cover, which must be no longer than 300 cm.

SCOOTERS

Your scooter is considered to be standard checked baggage*. So it is included in your fare (except Light fares) if it is the only item you check in. Make sure you place your scooter in a suitcase or suitable container (such as a cover).

 

Key in mind: For safety reasons, scooters may not be carried on, as they are considered as dangerous as a sharp object. They will be confiscated and disposed of at the security inspections.

 

* With the exception of engine-driven or electrical scooters, which are not acceptable as check-in items.

SURFING AND WINDSURFING

SURFING, KITE-SURFING, BODY-SURFING, WINDSURFING AND LONGBOARDING

·  Your surfboard, kite-surf or body-surf, wind-surfboard or longboard may be transported as checked baggage upon our prior consent. Please contact us no later than 48 hours prior to your flight.

 

Your board is considered to be a standard checked item if it is shorter than 300 cm and weighs less than 23 kg. It is considered to be a standard checked item. So it is included in your fare (except Light fares) if it is the only item you check in.
