That little extra
Take time to stroll through the old town of Ajaccio, the old port and discover the maze of alleyways.
Enjoy the atmosphere of the city near the Genoese citadel dating back to the 16th century.
Do not leave without Ajaccio discovering the many monuments dedicated to Napoleon such as the Museum of Maison Bonaparte, the Imperial Chapel and the Cathedral, where the emperor was baptized.
A visit to the Fesch Museum and its impressive collection of Italian Renaissance paintings is a must to complete the discovery of this rich cultural heritage.
The visitor will be stricken with the omnipresence of the Emperor.
But of course, Ajaccio is also the Gulf, the “Sanguinaires” islands (named after the blood red colour of its rocks), endless beaches and a fabulous setting.
Ajaccio is a favorite destination in Corsica for thousands of tourists, who elect either to enjoy Ajaccio or to explore the hinterland such as the village of Villanova and its hamlets, a few miles northwest.
