Montpellier is a name associated with sport at all levels and in many disciplines.
Its Football club, the MHSC, was French League 1 champion for the 2011-2012 season.
The handball professional club, the MHB, wrote a unique page of French sports history. In a period of 16 years it has won 33 titles: 13 titles as French Champion in league 1, 10 as winner of the French Cups and one European Champions League title in 2003.
Sports policy of the city and the region does not stop here: The rugby professional team is in the Top 14, with many talented players trained in local clubs and rugby schools.
Located in Languedoc-Roussillon, a very attractive and sunny region, Montpellier has ushered in a very specialized industry in the tertiary sector with high added value: Multimedia, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. The town hosts computer manufacturers including Dell and IBM.
In the area of health, the world number two in ophthalmology Bausch & Lomb, and Horiba Medical (automatic medical tests) are present in Montpellier.
The city also hosts research centres of major international companies such as Alstom and Sanofi.
