The historic centre of Bologna, one of the largest in Europe, is full of medieval and baroque treasures.
Start your walking tour with the Piazza Maggiore, the main square of the city, where you will find within a few hundred meters: the Palazzo d'Accursio, the Basilica of San Petronio, and the Palazzo del Podestà.
Bologna is the capital of Emilia-Romagna, a rich and vibrant region, characterized by a high level of innovation, research and an excellent University.
It displays a significant industrial activity with a strong export vocation, including Ducati and Lamborghini. But the secret weapon of the region must be sought in the relations among its hundreds of tiny companies.
Thus the region is nicknamed "Packaging Valley" with many companies specializing in design and manufacturing of automated packaging lines and their devices.
The Bologna Cineteca, created more than fifty years ago, has acquired an important collections of films and photography and opened it to the public.
The extensive archives make the Cineteca a unique study and research centre of interest to experts from all around the world. Strong attention is paid to Italian cinema, documentaries and independent films.
